A Little Embarrassing!!


Here (above) is what I looked like before Thursday the 19th!  Wow!  A little embarrassing, wouldn't you say?  My foster mom had me wrapped up (from back to front) in a belly band, no chew tape, Thundershirt, athletic wrap, tape, and a cone so I could not get to the three areas on my side where my masses (all benign) were removed.  I had stitches and staples that needed to stay in place for two weeks!  And, you know what, even though it was a little embarrassing, I wore all of that for two weeks with dignity and patience and grace.  And, you know what else?  When the vet removed all my wrappings on Thursday, my three incisions had healed beautifully!! Now I am waiting for the hair to grow back.  My foster mom gave me a much-needed bath yesterday, and look at me (4 pictures below) walking around outside in the yard after my bath!

I love to smell the smells!  :)

Things Have Been a Little Ruff...

Well, in the first four weeks at my BDRA foster home, I had four dental surgeries - one each week!  Apparently my mouth was so infected prior to the time I came to BDRA that the stitches from my tooth extractions would not hold.  So, about ten days ago, I went to a soft tissue surgeon who did some skin grafting to patch up the holes in my mouth (so I would not get a terrible infection in my sinuses and beyond).  And I got an esophageal feeding tube for food and my meds.  My foster mom gives me my medication through the tube, and I am eating blended food using my mouth.  So far, so good!  The stitches are holding, and I am being a real trooper, hanging in there, and hoping my mouth will be all healed up soon! It Has Been a While!

It has been a while since I have posted in my blog.  The picture above (which my foster mom says is a favorite of hers because I look so peaceful and sweet) was taken after I got my esophageal tube out. I still had a bandage around my neck for a few days.  Now that bandage is gone, and everything seems to be healed up.  Now decisions are being made about what to do about my eyes.  Once I know more, I will let you know.
